Militants from the Islamic State-affiliated Boko Haram faction, known as the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly called Jamā'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da'wah wa'l-Jihād, launched an attack on Buni Yadi, resulting in the deaths of three soldiers. According to sources speaking to Ilufoye Noah's Blog, the assailants also stole food supplies and livestock during the assault.Buni Yadi, part of the Gujba Local Government Area and situated 54 kilometers from Damaturu, the state capital, has been one of the most severely affected communities by Boko Haram control for two years in Yobe State.A local resident recounted to Ilufoye Noah's Blog, “My hometown was attacked overnight by Boko Haram militants. Three soldiers died, and food and livestock were taken. However, the army managed to recover three vehicles from the attackers. The assault began around 11 pm on Sunday and lasted until 4 am this morning (Monday).”Nigeria has been struggling with insurgency in the North-East for nearly twenty years, with the terrorist group accounting for thousands of deaths and the displacement of millions, particularly in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states, which have suffered most from the ongoing crisis.
