Terrorists on Wednesday invaded Rimawa village in the Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State, killing a vigilante member identified as Malam Bakwai and injuring one other person.
It was gathered that the terrorists also kidnapped an 18-year-old son of a member of Sokoto State House of Assembly representing Goronyo State Constituency, Faruk Ahmadu Rimawa.
Confirming the incident to Daily Trust, Goronyo Council Chairman, Abdulwahab Goronyo, said that the attackers invaded the village around 4 pm on different motorcycles, each carrying three armed men.
The Council chairman said, “I and the state chairman of PDP were in Goronyo town, condoling a bereaved family when I was informed about the attack. I quickly mobilized security operatives to the area but the bandits left with the boy before their arrival. They also killed one member of the vigilante group and injured another person.”
It was gathered that the child was in the village with his mother but she escaped unhurt.
